Using wood may cause problems when mounting rubber stamps without cushion. Wood warps over time and may affect the image of the design. The edges may get blurry and the defining lines are not so well defined. Using acrylic for mounting the rubber stamps does not require the cushions. Acrylic does not warp over time, so you do not have to worry about the integrity of the design. Acrylic mounts may be purchased at many craft supply stores that also sell the other needs such as specialty envelopes like vellum or window envelopes. You may also find that an inexpensive label printer may help you with printing tags for the items.
By eliminating the cushion when mounting the rubber stamps, you may extend the life of the craft supplies. If you are new, there are many starter kits out there that do not require a large investment, they can be found for as little as twenty dollars.
Most importantly, remember to have fun. You may get frustrated by trying to mount the rubber stamps on acrylic without the cushion, but you will get the hang of it. It only takes a couple of times before you master the process.
